Lavandula x intermedia is a naturally occuring interspecific hybrid of Lavandula angustifolia
and Lavandula latifolia. This hybrid is a lavandin and produces sterile seed, therefore all new lavandin plants must
be produced from cuttings.
Labyrinth Hill chose the lavandin cultivar 'Grosso' because of its deep purple color, tolerance for
the wetter Puget Sound weather, and for its incredible fragrance.
Its versatility is unsurpassed. In crafting, 'Grosso' maintains its color and fragrance for years
of aromatic enjoyment. This lavandin's long stems are ideal for wreaths and lavender wands. Although lavandula angustifolia
(English Lavender) is best to use for the sweeter culinary recipes, the lavandins are often placed on coals for grilling meats.
